Alison Wright (born in England) is an English actor. Her best-known role is as Martha Hanson in the FX spy series The Americans. She received both critical praise and nominations for a Primetime Emmy Award for this. She also been a part of Ryan Murphy's limited series Feud and Bette & Joan & Hollywood. Wright was born in Sunderland on the 12th July 1976. Her upbringing was influenced by her adoptive family. She began dancing and acting at a young age. She was educated at New York City's Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute as well as The Barrow Group. Her waitressing job was interrupted by auditions for various roles. When she went scuba diving at sea - a hobby of hers - she was struck by a heart attack, which left her victim in a state like a coma. She died peacefully six days later, surrounded by her loved ones who had travelled to the hospital to be at her bedside. Wright was born on July 12, 1976, within Sunderland, Tyne and Wear in the area where she was raised by her adoptive parents. She began dancing and acting at a young age. She was a student at The Barrow Group and The Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute which is located situated in New York City.
